The Great Pumpkin

The Great Pumpkin

When I think of Fall, I think of pumpkins, hay and scarecrows.  I've been wanting to plant a pumpkin patch for a couple of years, but you have to plan ahead (which isn't my strong suit). Pumpkin seeds are planted in early June to be ready in October.  This year, Jim ordered three varieties and we got started.  I envisioned a giant pumpkin patch were the grandkids could pick out a pumpkin and we could take Fall photos.  The seeds sprouted after a couple of weeks, and we were off to a great start!   After three months of over 100 degree weather and no rain, we had lots of blooming vines and ZERO pumpkins.   Finally, in October, Jim asked if he could just mow over it.   Oh well!  We shall try again next year!
